BP This Week: The Pences, Title VII, and Holy Week
BreakPoint
Published on 04/10/2017
Over the past week, a veritable media frenzy broke out over news that Vice President Mike Pence follows a version of the so-called “Billy Graham rule,” a commitment to never eat alone with a woman other than his wife. Many called this sexist, and some even suggested it contradicts virtue ethics. John Stonestreet and Ed Stetzer (who holds the Billy Graham chair at Wheaton) offer a level-headed perspective on the controversy. Our hosts also discuss a recent ruling by the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals that applied Title VII of the Civil Rights Act to a lesbian woman, making it illegal to consider sexual orientation in hiring and firing. Finally, with Holy Week just around the corner, we’re offering a special resource from the Colson Center family: A free worldview reflection on the seven last sayings of Jesus from the cross.
