Just as God had told Abraham (Gn. 15:13), the Israelites grew in number as they lived in Egypt. The pharaoh, feeling threatened, enslaves the Israelites and begins a season of intense opposition. While it would have appeared that God had forgotten about the Israelites, “God saw the people of Israel—and God knew” (Ex.2:25), and raised up their eventual deliverer in a man named Moses.1.
