Pastors are carrying a lot of extra weight in this season and it isn't sustainable. Unfortunately, we see a wave of crashing and burnout on the other side of this season. We are now in a season that makes the topic of burnout and health very important. On today's episode, Alan sits down with Pastor, Clinical Psychologist, and author, Dr. Wes Beavis. Wes is an expert on the topic of burnout and he and alan have a much-needed conversation about Wes's book as well as how to stay healthy and avoid burnout in this season. About Dr. Beavis Dr. Wes Beavis, has served for decades as a pastor in the United States and Australia. He is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in helping pastors navigate the ministry journey and guiding church leaders through crisis situations. He has clinical expertise in diagnosing and treating the symptoms of ministry burnout. Wes earned his doctorate from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology majoring in Applied Clinical Psychology. His Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy is from Hope International University. His Bachelor of Theology is from Sydney College of Divinity. Wes is married to Ellie, a Marriage and Family Therapist, and their private practices are in Newport Beach, California. They have two sons: David and his wife, Laura, both serve at a church in Oregon, and Zack attends medical school in Arizona. In addition to enjoying life with his family, Wes’ interests include running marathons, riding motorcycles, playing guitar, and traveling to other countries. (There are 194 countries in the world. Wes has visited 22 of them, which means he has quite a bit of packing yet to do!)
