Beginnings. Everything has them. You and I had a beginning And most of us celebrate it every year. The New Covenant we live in as believers had a beginning as well. Most would say it started at the birth of Christ, but that’s not accurate. According to the Bible this New Covenant began at the death of Jesus. The writer of Hebrews explains” “In the case of a will it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it, because a will — or covenant — is in force only when somebody has died.” The cross was the starting point, the entry into new life and hope and forgiveness. This is what we celebrate every time we eat of the bread and drink from the cup. For you and I the cross says, welcome to the New.
