A mental model is a metaphor that equips you to persevere through potentially unforeseen obstacles. Takeaways for leaders...It takes maturity to get rid of an unhealthy model. In order to act right, we must think right. It is harder to unlearn than it is to learn. Our perspective determines a lot about how we react to circumstances. Give those under your leadership a mental picture, or “model,” of what their job is going to look like to set the proper expectations and give them a better understanding of what they’re trying to accomplish. Be a leader with a pastor's heart. 2 Timothy chapter 2 gives us several mental models to illustrate being a leader. In this chapter it is referring specifically to ministry, but these principles can apply to many areas of life (marriage, parenting, etc.).The Apostle Paul, in 2 Timothy chapter 2, teaches us that ministry means being…-A teacher A teacher needs a student/apprentice. Always ask yourself, “who am I teaching, and what are they receiving?” A teacher’s success is defined by the growth of their students. -A soldier“Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.” -2 Timothy 2:3Ask yourself, “am I thinking like a civilian or like a solider?” -A victor Ask yourself, “what does a winner look like, and what does my training look like?” A victor exercises discipline. Show up to work with the mentality of an athlete. Do everything with the purpose of glorifying God and finishing, with excellence, the race that is set before you. Winning hurts. It takes hard work and discipline. As an athlete, sometimes you have to play through an injury because you recognize that during the playoffs that you opportunities are coming to an end. Be prepared for the demanding seasons of ministry where you have to push through the metaphorical injuries that may arise. -A farmerA farmer understands that what he doesn't plant, he doesn't reap. A farmer understands that there are seasons. Seasons of planting, seasons of nurturing, seasons of harvesting. He understands that some things are out of our control. What we are willing to put into the ground, we will reap. Ask yourself, “am I expecting an overnight success?” “The best way to predict the future is to invent it.” -Alan KayCreativity, Inc.: https://www.amazon.com/Creativity-Inc-Overcoming-Unseen-Inspiration/dp/0812993012Pastor Roman’s Twitter:https://twitter.com/archerraPastor Daniel’s Twitter: https://twitter.com/danielkinglive
