Submit your questions to info@joshuagagnon.com or @joshgagnon on Twitter and Pastor Josh might answer it on a future episode! On this episode we discuss the difference between a “flu shot leader” and an “IV leader.”Thoughts from this episode: A leader over teams cannot be an IV to everyone under them.A leader who is a flu shot is able to step into conversations, sustain culture, give wisdom, and then move on their way. In the beginning, you have to be more of an IV leader. In certain seasons you need to ask leaders under you to cross-lead their peers.People who are being led under a flu shot feel more authority and take better ownership.Give people space to lead.Your sense of purpose in an organization comes from being given ownership. Tips for giving away ownership:-Identify your insecurities (why do I feel like I need to be an IV)-Work on strengthening your weakness-Every time we lean into what’s easy (doing it for them), choose to lean back, pull away, and decide that you’re not going to do their job for them.Quotes from this episode:“Leaders need to be more like a flu shot than an IV.”“Those that you lead will never lead differently until you lead them differently.”
