Moses delivered the people of Israel out of Egypt.
But he did not deliver them into the promised land.
That task was given to Joshua.
He led them in in the same way Moses led them out.
They crossed over the river Jordan on dry land just as they had crossed the Red Sea.
Now this new generation of Israelites took hold of the beautiful land God had promised.
And they enjoyed all of God’s many blessings.
Even though Joshua carried out his task, he did not give them rest.
His story speaks of the spiritual rest we enjoy through faith in Jesus.
It is in him and him alone that we find rest for our souls.
Let me ask, is your soul at rest in Christ?
