Just a Minute! - Bob Christopher Mt. Carmel was the site of an intense standoff. The prophets of Baal, 450 of them came out to say to Elijah their god was more powerful than his. But Elijah knew better. So he challenged those prophets. You call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the LORD. The god who answers by fire—he is God. The 450 began to call on Baal, but as the Bible says, there was no response. Nothing. Their god was powerless. Not Elijah’s. The one true God answered in power and might. Now there are lots of things out there in the world that pretend to have more power than God. But you know better because when you called on the name of Lord he answered you in power and might.
