Letter From Steve Dulin | May 2011 Hello everyone,Our May Habitation service was an awesome time of teaching, ministry, prayer and healing! (Watch the Service) During the message, we learned that many people have preconceived ideas about healing. Some people believe that God can’t heal. Some people believe that God won’t heal. And some people believe that although God can heal, He won’t heal them. But the truth is: 1) God heals today. Exodus 15:26 says, “I am the Lord who heals you.” Jesus healed many people during His earthly ministry, and as we know from Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Not only does God heal today, but: 2) God wants you to be healed. Because of His love and compassion, it is His will to heal you. “And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick” (Matthew 14:14).And the best news of all is that: 3) God has made a way for your healing. Sin can cause disease, but repentance leads to healing. James 5:16 says, “Confess your trespasses (sins) to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed.” Four Possible Sins and God’s SolutionsWe focused on four specific sins that can lead to disease and talked about how to overcome those sins. 1. Fear is sin because God tells us not to be afraid. In Isaiah 41:10, the Lord says, “Fear not, for I am with you.” The solution to overcoming fear is love. If you knew how perfectly you are loved, you would never fear. 1 John 4:18 says, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear.” 2. Worry is sin, because God says, “Be anxious for nothing,” (Philippians 4:6). The solution to overcoming worry is to trust God … “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). 3. Unforgiveness can lead to physical torment through fear, pain, stress and sickness. In the parable of the unmerciful servant, the Lord said, “‘Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’ And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses” (Matthew 18:33–35). The solution to unforgiveness is to forgive. Luke 6:37 says, “Forgive, and you will be forgiven.”4. Bitterness is caused by long-standing unforgiveness. The solution to bitterness is to forgive consistently and completely. “If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him” (Luke 17:3–4).Walking out Your Healing The ultimate goal of Habitation is not to achieve physical health, but to achieve a strong relationship with God. This is more important than our physical health. Even if we are supernaturally healed, we will still eventually die. But as we grow in spiritual health, we will often achieve physical health. 3 John 2 says, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”Sometimes God heals us immediately through a supernatural miracle. But sometimes, He wants us to go through a process of healing so we can get healed spiritually and know how to walk in health from this point forward. God’s greatest desire is to see you reach total health—not just physically—but emotionally and spiritually. If you do not get healed immediately, do not give up. Keep pressing into God and fight the good fight of faith. “But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you” (1 Peter 5:10). I encourage you to come back to Habitation this coming month. We are going to talk about healing and pray for healing again, and we are expecting great things from God. May AssignmentYour assignment this month is to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal if you have any sin in your life that may be causing sickness or disease. Ask those close to you if they see any area in your life where you may be in sin. If you discover that you are in sin, do not get under condemnation, just repent. Ask God to forgive you, then change your mind and choose to walk in freedom. TestimoniesWe have received some wonderful testimonies from people who were healed at the last Habitation service. (Read Testimonies) If you have a testimony of healing, please send it to us using our online form or email it to testimonies@gatewaypeople.com. The Next Habitation ServiceThe next Habitation service will be held Sunday, June 12. We will have a special time of prayer and ministry in the Auditorium at 5:15 pm, and the service begins at 6:00 pm. Thank you for being a part of what God is doing at Habitation. I look forward to seeing you at the next Habitation service. God Bless, Steve Dulin For more information, visit habitation.gatewaypeople.com or email habitation@gatewaypeople.com.
