Sunday Message: Lost in Translation

Greg Laurie - A New Beginning

Published on 11/29/2020

In this Sunday morning message, titled “Lost in Translation,” Pastor Greg Laurie looks at the most important question we can answer—a question that Jesus asked His disciples: “Who do you say that I am?” From Mark 8, we’ll come to understand who Jesus is, why He came to Earth, and how we ought to live out these truths. It’s the latest message in our series, The Gospel for Busy People. Notes Jesus’ disciples did not understand why He came and what His purpose was. Before there would be a crown, there would be a cross. Read: Mark 8:27–30 Everyone will say, “Jesus is Lord!” (Philippians 2:10–11) Caesarea Philippi was named after the Greek god Pan. In a place of paganism and false belief, Jesus asks them to make a stand. “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” (Matthew 16:13) “You are the Messiah!” (Mark 8:30) Jesus was not a mere man. The birth of Jesus Christ is the most momentous event that has ever occurred. Read: Mark 8:31–33 “Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him.” (Mark 8:32) Satan was trying to divert Jesus from the cross. Read: Mark 8:34–38 To deny means, “to say no to.” Following Jesus is long obedience in the same direction. Selfish people are unhappy and selfless people are happy. Other Scriptures Referenced Matthew 16:17–18 Revelation 13:8 Matthew 16:25 2 Timothy 3:1–2 Galatians 2:20 Mark 8:35 --- This Giving Tuesday, would you consider supporting the work of evangelism through Harvest Ministries?
