Your Last Decade #21: Chris Heuertz
The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey
Published on 05/22/2020
As we enter this new decade, I thought it would be fun to talk to a few friends and reflect back on what life was like 10 years ago. In these conversations, you’ll hear guests speak about what God has done in their life, their dreams and goals, things they would have done differently, and things they’re most proud of. And, looking back always causes me to look forward, so we’ll also chat about dreams for the next ten years! My guest today is Chris Heuertz. Chris is an instigator for good, a champion of collaboration, and a witness to hope. He teaches the Enneagram in workshops around the world and has authored 5 books including the award-winning and best-selling book, The Sacred Enneagram and recently released, The Enneagram of Belonging. In today’s episode, we chat about Chris’s last 10 years. We touch on his time in India as a young adult where he was mentored by Mother Teresa and how he helped launch South Asia's first pediatric AIDS care home. He shares his journey with the Enneagram and contemplation and how they have affected the deep soul work he’s involved with -- especially in the era of COVID-19. Chris also dives into his new book, The Enneagram of Belonging which aims to help us develop an honest relationship with our type, confronting our "inner dragons," practicing self-compassion, and thereby coming to fully belong to ourselves--and, ultimately, to love itself. I’ve been sitting with his words, “The world is changing in real time.. and being present is pregnant with the potential with every moment we may be given to us in the future.” and, friends, I have a feeling you’re going to want to listen through this episode more than once. Be sure you check out Chris’s new book, The Enneagram of Belonging: A Compassionate Journey of Self-Acceptance.
